Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a city popularized by its humble steel background, successful sports teams, and its blue collar attitude. As a Pittsburgh native, J-Spoolz brings these elements to the forefront of Hip-hop music, giving you a glimpse into what its like growing up in the Steel City.
A solo artist, J-spoolz has been putting his thoughts to the page for about 10 years. Gaining popularity in the city with his first release, The Way I See It (2004), was just the beginning of the road ahead. Focused and assertive, Spoolz began attending music conferences, including the popular TJs DJs and Tastemakers Music Conference, spreading his name and his music past the boundaries of Pittsburgh.
Garnering interest and respect from a few names established in the music business through his networking, Spoolz continued to set his goals toward spreading his music to the masses. He began getting features from such names as Stat Quo, Graph, and Wiz Khalifa among others, and producing mixtapes with DJ S1, DJ Smallz, and DJ Furious Stylez.
The Smallz hosted mixtape, Pittsburgh State of Mind Vol 1, saw J-Spoolz grow as an artist, discrediting any of those who denied that the hype was real. With the ever growing attention, he began opening for acts like Rick Ross, T-Pain, Bun-B, and Lil’ Wayne. Lately, you can hear Spoolz performing out in California, most recently at the Whiskey A Go Go nightclub in West Hollywood, or on the co-hosted radio show, The Raw Hour, on 103.5 fm.
J-Spoolz is currently working on his album and follow-up mixtape to R.E.A.L., Pittsburgh State of Mind Vol 3, and is slated for a early 2014 release.
